A significant fire destroyed the Bush Canteen at the University of Ghana, Legon, on Wednesday evening, likely triggered by a gas explosion. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties.

Footage shows intense flames engulfing the canteen while thick smoke filled the sky, prompting evacuation for nearby students and vendors. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded promptly, containing the fire within an hour after it started around 9:00 PM.

The fire is now 90% contained, but 6approximately 20 refrigerators and freezers were lost in the blaze. This incident adds to growing concerns over increasing fire outbreaks across Ghana.
