The government of Burkina Faso has imposed a ban on the exportation of various cereals, including rice, millet, maize, sorghum, and white beans (cowpea).

The reasoning behind this ban remains unclear; however, a notice from the Foreign Affairs Ministry dated February 25, 2025, stated that this directive was previously communicated in 2023 and 2024 and is still in effect.

Ghanaian traders involved in importing these cereals from Burkina Faso are urged to adhere to the directive to avoid sanctions.
