All You Need To Know
The Ghana Police Service has issued a strong public alert, firmly debunking widespread rumors about a supposed recruitment exercise currently making rounds on various social media platforms. The Service has described these claims as completely false, warning the general public not to fall victim to fraudsters exploiting the hopes and aspirations of job seekers. In a press statement released on Monday, June 23, the Police Service clarified that there is no ongoing recruitment, and they have not opened any application process or released any notice inviting individuals to apply. According to the statement, any information suggesting that the Police are recruiting at this time is entirely fabricated and designed to scam unsuspecting members of the public.
“The Police Administration wishes to categorically state that this information is false. The Service has not announced any new recruitment exercise. Any recruitment exercise will be duly advertised through the official communication channels of the Service, including the official website, verified social media platforms, and in the national dailies,” the statement emphasized.
The Police emphasized that when there is an official recruitment exercise, it will be announced transparently through credible and verifiable sources, including the official Ghana Police website, their verified social media pages, and reputable national newspapers. They stressed that no legitimate recruitment process is ever carried out secretly or through informal communication channels such as WhatsApp groups, Facebook pages, or Instagram posts.A Widespread Scam Targeting Desperate Job Seekers
These fake recruitment announcements are part of a growing wave of online and offline scams that target young Ghanaians seeking employment, particularly in the security services. Scammers typically create fake job postings with official-looking graphics, logos, and sometimes even forged endorsements claiming to come from the Police Administration. Victims are often asked to submit sensitive personal information or make payments under the pretense of securing a spot in the recruitment process.
The Police Service has issued a stern warning to the general public: do not engage with any individual, group, or agency claiming to offer Police job placements in exchange for money, favors, or documentation. All such offers are fraudulent.
Public Cooperation Needed: Report Suspicious Activity
The Police Service has assured the public that it is actively investigating the origin of these false claims, and that any individuals found to be perpetrating these scams will be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
As part of efforts to curb the spread of misinformation and protect citizens, the Police are calling on all Ghanaians—especially the youth and parents—to remain vigilant and to help spread awareness about this scam. Anyone with information about such fraudulent recruitment offers or those involved in distributing them is strongly urged to report to the nearest police station immediately.
Citizens Urged to Stay Informed and Alert
The Ghana Police Service is appealing to the public to trust only official sources for announcements regarding employment within the Service. Citizens are also advised to share this alert with friends, family, and community groups to prevent others from falling prey to these schemes.
In times of economic hardship and high unemployment, fraudsters often exploit desperation. The Ghana Police reminds all Ghanaians that protecting the public from deceit and criminal behavior is a collective responsibility.Remember: If it didn’t come from the Ghana Police’s official website, verified pages, or a recognized national newspaper — it is likely a scam. Stay alert, stay informedfr, and don’t be a victim.
