30 Injured in Makueni Matatu Crash While Heading to Family Wedding


A recent report from GHOne TV highlights a tragic incident in Makueni County, Kenya, where 30 family members were involved in a serious road accident while on their way to a wedding. The accident took place at Kaviti Village along the Boma 4-Kiundwani road in Makindu Sub-County.


Eyewitnesses described how the minibus lost control on a steep section of the road, speeding downhill before veering off course and rolling over multiple times until it came to rest in a ditch. One witness recounted that the vehicle was traveling quickly when suddenly the driver seemed unable to regain control.


Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, transporting all injured passengers to Makindu Sub-County Hospital for medical attention. Fortunately, initial reports suggest that most injuries were minor.


Local police were also present to assess the situation and have since initiated an investigation into what caused the accident. They are working on retrieving the wreckage and will tow it to Makindu Police Station for further analysis. 


As the affected family begins to recover from this alarming ordeal, concerns about road safety continue to grow in Kenya due to frequent accidents resulting in injuries and fatalities. A police officer at the scene urged motorists to exercise extra caution, particularly on hilly or unfamiliar roads.
