Former NEIP CEO blasts Ken Agyapong’s supporter for comparing Bawumia to Mahama
Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, the former CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has strongly pushed back against comments made by Jennifer Oppong, a supporter of Kennedy Agyapong, regarding Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s performance in office.
In a Facebook post, Jennifer Oppong criticized Dr. Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP)'s 2024 presidential candidate, claiming he had achieved little during his eight years in office. She suggested that former President John Mahama, within just six months of returning to power, had already outshone Bawumia. She wrote:
“John Mahama has made Bawumia look incompetent! He’s doing what Bawumia couldn’t achieve in eight years. The NPP would be making a huge mistake to present Bawumia as our candidate — Ghanaians will punish us!”
Kofi Ofosu Nkansah responded sharply, calling her remarks illogical and disrespectful. He pointed out that if the previous NPP administration failed, the responsibility was shared across the entire leadership — including her preferred candidate, Kennedy Agyapong, who served as a board chairman under the same government.
He wrote:
“Don’t be ridiculous. The NPP had much more public support six months into office. If there were failures, it was a collective one — from the President to every appointee. Your candidate was part of that system as a board chairman. Comparing a President to a Vice President is senseless.”
Nkansah further criticized Jennifer for insulting Bawumia while being overly sensitive when others respond in kind to her preferred candidate. He ended his post by labeling her comments as “nonsense.”
